This is the Week 3 Assignment 1
Do We Have to Trust Our Media?
The Internet Versus other Information Sources
In a study released Friday by the University of Los Angeles California, 61% of those polled find the Internet to be "very" or "extremely" important, as compared to Books and Newspapers, when choosing an information source. Correlate that to the numbers for: television 50% radio 40% magazine 29% one thing seems incredibly apparent: We do not fully trust any information source! Never Trust the Media! It doesn’t have to be such an extreme idea as total mistrust. True, no media should be fully trusted. All sources of information, be it a television show, a website or even our government, deliver information heavily influenced by perspective, opinion and even mood of the gatherer and deliverer. Don’t Trust this Website! Gather information from multiple media types, weigh the information against the reputation of the source and then make your own judgements. Research, research and more research will help you find the information you seek and give you a firm grasp of the truth as it resides in the world. This website gives the reader the opportunity to experience and learn from an alternative viewpoint and to share those subjective experiences as this writer/reporter perceived. You as a reader are urged to take these opinions as a starting point for research and ultimately a departure point for your own learning experience. Healthy mistrust for information sources is a must in the deluge of agendas that permeates the Media these days. Truth is there and it is our responsibility to sift through the opinions and perspectives to find what our intuition already knows - the Truth. Happy hunting (and gathering)!
